1. Unlock new characters

The summoning system is the primary method of acquiring new characters. This is a random drop mechanic that requires you to spend Chrono Crystals (the legendary premium currency) to unlock any one of the game's multiple characters. Each day, you will receive a discount on one summon, reducing the cost to just 20 Crystals. otherwise, you will need to spend 100 Crystals per summon.

Another option for unlocking characters is Story Mode. These are time-limited quests that usually reward a small number of characters related to a specific event. These missions are usually very simple, such as "fight 10 times with a specific character", so be sure to check the list and try to unlock as many characters as possible.

2. Upgrades

For most hero games there are multiple ways to improve your character's attributes. To avoid confusion, I will describe them one by one.

Story experience: This is simple. When you complete a story or event story stage, each character in your party gains experience (EXP). You can repeat these actions until you run out of energy.

EXP Training: Go to the "Training" menu, select a character, and wait for the allotted time to gain some extra EXP.

Limit Break: Gain Z power through summons or story bonuses to significantly increase your character's overall power (indicated by an asterisk). You can limit characters to a maximum of 7 stars.

Soul Enhancement: Upgrade your character by unlocking new enhancement panels on the Soul Enhancement board. These are secondary upgrades to individual stats like health, strike attack, and blast defense, but they all eventually add up.

Upgrade/Augmentation Core: After unlocking a certain number of Augmentation Panels, you can activate the Augmentation Core (called an upgrade on the Soul Augmentation Board). This raises the level of the character and opens up new features as well as more powerful augmentation panels.

Equipment: Interchangeable items that provide passive status gains. These can be upgraded by spending Souls and Zeni, and can be obtained by completing Story chapters and Missions. You can sell copies to obtain more Zeni. you can also occasionally unlock more equipment slots for each character by activating Boost Core.

3. Elemental Use

You may get lost if you can't find the right element on the battlefield. Each character has a specific element and is color coded with a simple color. The five main colors are red, yellow, purple, green and blue. Each primary color element is strong for one element and weak for another. When put together, all of these become nicely pentagonal in shape, as shown in the figure below.

The two wildcards are two special elements: Dark and Light. dark is strong against all five basic elements, while light is strong against dark. When fighting, you will need a good combination of elements in order to fight against your opponent in real time during battle. Thankfully, you don't have to remember all of the elemental matchups in battle. If the character is strong against the current enemy, the upward-facing green arrow will show on the character's profile, while the downward-facing red arrow indicates that you should switch immediately!
