Description

De Blob 2 is a platform puzzle video game and a sequel to the Wii 2008 video game De Blob. The player once again takes control of Blob, who can mix colours to paint objects and bring the cityscape to life, thus opening up previously locked areas, as Blob is taken on missions by his friends in 'underground colours', such as completing timed races, defeating enemies, freeing captured Graydians and capturing important landmarks. Like its predecessor, De Blob 2 was developed by Blue Tongue Entertainment for home consoles and published by THQ in association with the television network Syfy. It was founded in 1995. It was acquired by THQ on 17 November 2004 and remained an in-house development studio for THQ until its closure in August 2011. blueTongue worked with publishers Hasbro Interactive and Vivendi Universal Games, in addition to THQ.

Blue Tongue initially offered web development services and launched its first version of AFL Finals Fever and entered video games in 1995. It was released on 9 June 1996 and reached number three in the Australian software sales charts. Another game, Riding Stars, was their first international release. It has been ported to several platforms including the PlayStation and Game Boy. Blue Tongue developed the TOSHI game engine used in-house for many of their projects.

De Blob has received rave reviews from various gaming websites, including the official Nintendo Magazine (which scored a 92% rating and a Gold Award), and IGN .com (which won several Wii-specific awards for its 2008 video game) awards, including Best Platformer, Best Graphic Technology and Best Use of Sound. In addition to the awards it received, IGN nominated de Blob for several other Wii-specific awards, including Best New IP, Best Original Score, Most Innovative Design and Game of the Year.
