The game includes elements of board games, collectible card games, and puzzle types. The main game consists of levels similar to the board game, with locations dedicated to items, energy boosts, traps and battles. In combat, the player's character fights enemies through a puzzle system similar to a triple elimination game. Multiple spheres of different colors are placed between the player character and the enemy, and the player can match different kinds of spheres to attack or use other abilities. After a certain number of ball matches, players unlock "Dokkan Mode" for one of their characters, which requires them to tap 7 targets in a Z-shaped configuration as the ki ball passes over them. This allows the character to launch a much more powerful super attack than a typical super attack. Some characters may also have a special ability called an "active skill" that produces different effects depending on who is using them. They can be transformations, inter-character swaps, attacks, or boosts, and can be activated when certain conditions are met.
