There is a large variety of user-generated content in My World, such as modifications, skins, material mapping, and custom maps, all of which can be downloaded from the web. Modifications to the game code are called modules, which add a variety of play styles, including new cubes, new items, and new monsters to expand the entire manufacturing system. Some module communities are responsible for a large number of these gameplay-altering modules such as mini-maps, location points, and durability displays, as well as modules that add gameplay elements from works such as Pokémon, Portal, and the Hunger Games.

How to play

In "My World" players can make a variety of items. Players can mitigate the damage they take by building armor, and weapons such as swords make it easier to kill enemies and other animals. Players can gather resources to craft tools such as axes, spades, or picks, using them to cut wood, grind earth, and dig mines, respectively. Iron tools perform more efficiently and have higher durability than stone or wooden tools (and diamond tools again), allowing them to break the cubes in question more quickly. Players can also trade with villagers through an item exchange system, where they can, for example, trade other items for emeralds. Villagers often trade for emeralds or other materials.

The game also has an item bar (backpack) system, which allows the player to carry a limited number of items with them. If the player dies, the items in the backpack will be scattered out (if set not to drop items will not drop items). Players will respawn near their birth point at the beginning of the game. However, if the player has slept in a bed or used a respawn anchor and it is not blocked or lost, the respawn point resets to next to the bed or respawn anchor (lower realm only). Dropped items can be retrieved near the point of death, but these items will disappear after five minutes. Players can gain experience points by killing monsters and animals or other players, mining, smelting ores, farming animals and cooking food, fishing, etc. Experience points can be used to enchant armor and weapons (enchanting requires lapis lazuli) or repair items. Enchanted items are generally more powerful, have longer durability, or have other special effects
